Balayage
Balayage is a modern hair coloring technique that creates a soft, natural-looking blend of color with a sun-kissed effect. Unlike traditional highlights that use foils, Balayage is applied freehand, allowing the stylist to paint color directly onto the hair in sweeping motions. This technique gives a more customized, natural result that grows out beautifully with less noticeable regrowth.
The process involves strategically painting lighter tones onto the surface of the hair, focusing on areas where the sun would naturally lighten it. Because it’s hand-painted, no two Balayage applications are the same—each look is tailored to your hair type, natural color, and personal style.
The Effects of Balayage:
-
Soft, natural dimension with a seamless blend from root to ends
-
Low-maintenance color that grows out gracefully, reducing the need for frequent touch-ups
-
Customizable results ranging from subtle, sun-kissed highlights to bold, high-contrast color
-
Adds depth and movement, making hair appear fuller and more textured
Balayage is perfect for anyone looking for a modern, effortless look that enhances their natural beauty while offering flexibility in tone and style.

Commonly asked Balayage Questions & Answers
What is the upkeep to maintain a Balayage?
There are no harsh grow out lines with a free hand balayage, so how often you visit is up to you. The toner, which controls how warm/ashy the hair appears, typically fade within 6-8 weeks. If the goal is continuing the lightening journey you should book your next appointment within this time frame. You should also book your next service in this time frame if you dislike any warm tones, or if you prefer blonde that is always close to the root or looks well maintained.
3 months is a common time frame for most guests who prefer a low maintenance balayage, but still prefer to maintain their color regularly. Other guests can extend their appointments 6 months to a full year! The blend and grow out really is that amazingly flawless!
How should I prep my hair before each service?
The best hair for balayaging:
-
Clean & freshly washed (within 24 hours), preferably with a clarifying shampoo.
-
Fully dried
-
No messy buns or styling products
How much should I plan on investing my first appointment?
Depending on how light you wish to go, how dark your hair is currently, previous color history, and your own hair length and density between $200-$600, with most my new guests investing approximately $300-$350 with haircut.
How many sessions should I expect?
There is no easy answer to this. You will love your balayage every time you leave though. Depending on your goal, it could take many sessions. Balayage typically starts to create a dimensional palette after 2-3 sessions, regardless of goal.
Will it still look good when I wear it straight or up in a pony tail?
Your new balayage will look amazing both straight and when you wear it up. My consultations are in depth to discover how YOU primarily wear your hair, which determines which techniques I use. If you wear your hair primarily straight I will adjust my techniques to give you the result you are craving to see on straight hair. Similarly, because I am hair painting, your hairline will look flawless when you wear your hair up. Meaning, you will not see any grown out highlights!
Do you balayage all types of hair?
Of course I do! My favorites are:
-
Brunettes
-
Natural redheads
-
Natural hair that's never been colored
-
Curly hair types (all textures & curl patterns)
-
Sun-kissed blondes
-
Caramel brunettes
I could go on....I just like creating works of art through hair painting.
